A wooden pound-and-tap bench by Hape in which the balls roll across a xylophone after every hammer blow and produce a note. The toy links a motor action directly to an audible result, which holds a toddler's attention for longer.

The xylophone slides out of the bench, so one article effectively offers two forms of play: hammering with the balls and free playing on the coloured keys.

Suitable from 12 months, the model sits well on a wooden-toy shelf next to stacking and sorting lines. Childcare settings can use it in the group corner. Available per piece.
